In the wake of the recent national election, a new study by researchers at UCLA and UC Riverside raises serious concerns about an alarming degree of inattention to the democratic mission of schools and a general lack of support for civic learning across California.
The study, Reclaiming the Democratic Purpose of California’s Public Schools, will be released for publication and broadcast Thursday November 19 at 12.01 a.m. (stories may appear Thursday morning).
An advance, embargoed copy of the research is available to interested news organizations agreeing to the embargo. The researchers (John Rogers at UCLA, Erica R. Hodgin & Joseph Kahne at UC Riverside) are also available for advance interviews.
